Your forest
is worth more
standing.
Buxo is the digital currency backed by the trees of Galicia. Landowners earn from their trees without cutting them down. Companies offset their footprint with CO₂ you can see, touch and visit.
1 Buxo = 1 standing tree · ≈ 167 kg CO₂/year
The problem
Today a tree only makes money when it falls.
Thousands of Galician landowners have forests that earn them nothing… until they sell them for logging. It is a one-off payment, the land is left bare and the cycle starts again. Buxo changes the maths: the tree creates value while it is still alive.
Selling for timber
€950
just once
- A real example: a 654 m² plot with 19 eucalyptus trees, at €50 each.
- You get paid when they are cut. Then the land produces nothing for years.
- The stored CO₂ goes back into the atmosphere.
With Buxo
19 Buxos
that keep their value every year
- The same 19 trees, still standing, issue 19 Buxos.
- Companies buy them to offset the CO₂ the trees absorb.
- The landowner gets paid and the forest keeps growing… and absorbing.
Imagine you could own one of these…
A specific tree, in a specific forest in Galicia, with its location on the map and its CO₂ accounted for. Not an abstract promise: a Buxo is a piece of forest that exists, that you can visit and that is still standing thanks to you.
How it works
A cycle where the forest wins
- 1
You register your forest
The landowner registers their land. Every tree is counted, geolocated and verified on the ground.
- 2
Your trees issue Buxos
One Buxo is issued on the blockchain for every standing tree, with its location and estimated CO₂. As long as it stands, it keeps its value.
- 3
Companies buy them
Anyone who needs to reduce their footprint buys Buxos and gets a traceable certificate of the CO₂ their forest absorbs.
- 4
You get paid, the forest lives on
The money goes to the landowner without cutting a single tree. The forest is looked after, keeps growing and stops being fuel for the next wildfire.
Who it's for
Three ways into the forest

167 kg
of CO₂ stored by an average tree every year
6
mature trees absorb one tonne of CO₂ a year
42
trees offset the 7 t one person emits each year
Average estimates: actual absorption depends on species, age, size, climate and soil.
Digital and tangible
It lives on the blockchain. Its backing, in the forest.
Buxo is digital money, but behind each one there is something you can touch: a real tree in Galicia.
Blockchain token
Traded and transferred like any other digital currency.
Its tree on the map
Each Buxo links to its tree and its forest, with photos and growth data.
Physical coin
A physical edition with a QR code that leads to its tree: to give, collect or visit.
Why blockchain
Trust that doesn't depend on taking our word for it
Security
Every Buxo is recorded immutably: nobody can duplicate or alter it.
Transparency
Every transaction is public and anyone can check it at any time.
Traceability
From tree to certificate: every Buxo leaves a trail back to its forest.
Low energy
A proof-of-stake blockchain: nothing like Bitcoin's energy consumption.
Choose your next adventure…
A forest you can actually visit
Wetlands, wild horses and mist between A Mariña and Terra Chá: the Serra do Xistral is the kind of Galician landscape we want to preserve. Every Buxo puts its tree on the map, so one day you can go and see it.
